About Shannon Gardner, D.M.D.

Dr. Shannon Gardner brings a unique perspective to dentistry through her background in nursing, advanced dental training, and years of experience caring for patients.

A lifelong Gator, Dr. Gardner earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida College of Nursing. She spent approximately eight years as a Registered Nurse at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, gaining extensive experience caring for patients in a complex healthcare environment.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. During dental school, she continued working evenings and weekends as an RN at Shands and volunteered through the Freedom Clinic, providing pro-bono dental care to patients in need.

Following dental school, Dr. Gardner completed advanced postgraduate training through the VA in Gainesville, where she particularly valued the opportunity to care for our nation’s veterans. She then practiced with several dental organizations throughout the Sarasota area, gaining broad experience in comprehensive general dentistry before founding Beachside Dental.

Dr. Gardner created Beachside Dental with a vision of providing exceptional dentistry in a welcoming, comfortable environment. She believes excellent dentistry begins with listening and takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns, goals, and individual needs. Her approach combines comprehensive, evidence-based care with the compassion and patient-centered perspective shaped by her years in nursing and healthcare.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Gardner performed professionally with Central Florida Ballet. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Hailey, and is proud to call the Sarasota area home.
